Question:
Dear Ashleigh,

We are preparing an offer for P253557 QPWS Fire Protective Clothing and would appreciate clarification on the following in advance of the 25 August deadline.

We note the Customer makes no commitment to any minimum volume (Schedule 1, item 9.1) and that any data provided is not a guarantee of business (Part A, clause 2.4). We are not seeking a commitment only indicative historical data to inform responsible pricing and production planning.

1. Historical annual volumes for the past three financial years, by garment type (trouser, jacket, shirt), and split by men's and women's fit if available.

2. The approximate number of fire-trained personnel currently issued with fire PPC, and the standard issue scale per person (e.g. number of shirts, trousers and jackets issued, and the expected replacement frequency).

3. The typical size distribution across the range, and the approximate proportion of orders each year filled as made-to-measure.

4. The number of QPWS delivery locations across Queensland, and the approximate split between metropolitan Brisbane and regional sites.

We would also value an indication of the Customer's expectations at contract commencement. Given the specification calls for certification to AS/NZS 4824:2021 including Amendment 1, does QPWS anticipate a transition of existing issued stock to the new standard from 1 October 2026, or replacement through natural attrition? If a transition is expected, an indicative timeframe and volume would materially assist our planning.

We intend to offer a garment purpose-built to the QPWS specification rather than an off-the-shelf product. Production planning of that kind is sensitive to volume and size curve, which is why we are seeking the above.

Thank you for your assistance.

Question:
Good morning,

Concerning Part B, Attachment 1 – QPWS Fire Protective Clothing Specifications, item 4. Firefighting Shirt. This garment requirement states "must be labelled with ... AS/NZS 4602.2:2013 Classification 1" - that is not possible as AS/NZS 4602.2 is co-dependent on the garment being certified to AS/NZS 4824 (see AS/NZS 4602.2 Scope and clause 4.5 Garment).

The illustration shows a reflective tape configuration depicting AS/NZS 1906.4 Class R material with 'Yellow' colour background material (shirt fabric) which would suggest that AS 4602.1:2024 Class D/N Level 1 compliance is possible.

The shirt design may prevent the garment being AS/NZS 4824 compliant (no Class SP tape specified, business collar, design illustration button front, modesty button).

Should reference to AS/NZS 4602.2 be replaced with AS 4602.1:2024 Class D/N Level 1?

Good morning,

Could you please clarify whether QPWS intends to award the jackets, trousers and shirts as a single Lot to one supplier, or whether individual garment categories may be awarded separately—for example, jackets and trousers to one supplier and shirts to another?

Many thanks,

Question:
In reference to the Jacket specification on page 31 of the P253557-Part_B-Contract_Details document, the specification states that a handheld UHF radio is to be carried in the chest pocket. Could you please provide the dimensions and, if available, images/model details of the radio intended to be carried? The supplied sketch also shows two radio pockets at the back of the jacket. Please confirm whether these are intended to be retained for larger radio handsets, in addition to the handheld UHF radio carried in the chest pocket.
