COUNCIL’S REQUIREMENTS

Clarence City Council invites Quotations from suitably qualified Respondents to undertake play equipment and rubber soft fall installation and general landscape works at Bellerive Beach Park Playground, 15 Derwent Street, Bellerive. The scope of works includes demolition of existing soft fall surfaces, general landscaping and planting works, installation of new play equipment items and installation of wet pour rubber soft fall surfacing.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The playground at Bellerive Beach Park was constructed in 2017 and is one of Councils most popular play destinations. High visitation and intense use combined with strong coastal winds results in loose materials such as woodchip mulch and sand being spread and displaced across the site. These loose materials are a burden to Council in both the time they take to maintain and the cost for frequent topping up and renewal. Sand from the sand pit is frequently blocking stormwater drains in the water play area and results in regular closure of the play feature and costly pumping out of drains and pits by contractors.

The purpose of this project is to remove some of the key maintenance challenges in the playground through replacement of loose fill surfaces with rubber surfacing, installation of new play equipment items and reestablishment of planting areas.
