Cassowary Coast Regional Council is seeking quotations from suitably qualified contractors for the 104657 – Tully Civic Centre External Building Remediation, Repainting and Signage Works located at 34-40 Bryant Street, Tully QLD 4854.

The Works generally include external building remediation and repainting works, scaffolding and access requirements, removal and installation of signage, cleaning and preparation of external surfaces, dilapidation surveys, and associated ancillary works in accordance with the Request for Quotation documents.

Respondents are required to submit a proposed program for the Works. The Works must be completed by 31 May 2027.

Details
Delivery of a high-quality external building remediation, repainting and signage project in accordance with the Contract Documents.

Restoration and protection of the external building envelope to improve asset condition and extend the service life of the facility.

Compliance with the nominated paint systems, specifications, manufacturer's requirements and warranty conditions.

Minimal disruption to Council operations, staff, facility users and the general public during the Works.

Safe management of pedestrian access and work areas throughout the project.

Timely completion of the Works by 31 May 2027.

Identification and reporting of any defects, substrate deterioration, water ingress issues, cladding defects or other conditions requiring rectification.

Delivery of all required warranties, photographic records, dilapidation surveys and handover documentation at Practical Completion.

Preference may be given to respondents who demonstrate practical experience in similar remediation and repainting projects, strong project programming, effective risk management, and the ability to minimise disruption while completing the Works safely and efficiently.

Question:
Good afternoon,

Regarding the vinyl signage specification, some of our signwriting contractors have raised concerns regarding the suitability and long-term durability of fine-cut vinyl signage in local climate conditions and have declined to price.

The concerns are around the expected service life of the proposed vinyl application, with contractors advising an anticipated service life of approximately 2 years.

Would Council accept an alternative proposal of painted, router-cut ACM individual letters and logo elements, mechanically fixed to the building façade? Our signwriting contractor has recommended this as a significantly more durable, long-term signage solution, targeting a service life comparable to the existing signage.

Council is willing to consider an alternative signage solution in lieu of the specified vinyl signage.

Please include the proposed alternative signage option within your submission and BOQ, including a clear description of the product, materials, installation methodology and expected service life. This information will be considered as part of Council's assessment of value, suitability and long-term durability.
