What the buyer is requesting
Details
Ipswich City Council (Council) invites quotations from suitably qualified service providers for the provision of planned burns within Ipswich Conservation Estates, commencing in March 2026. The services will be delivered under an agreed schedule of rates.
Background information / Compatibility requirements
Details
Ipswich City Council is committed to the sustainable management of its Conservation Estates, which encompass over 7,000 hectares of bushland and natural reserves. These areas provide significant community benefits, including recreational opportunities such as hiking, bird watching, mountain biking, and nature study. However, the presence of extensive bushland also presents a heightened risk of uncontrolled bushfires, particularly during drier months when fuel loads and climatic conditions increase fire danger.

To mitigate these risks, Council implements a proactive bushfire management strategy through planned (prescribed) burns. These burns are essential for:

• Reducing combustible fuel loads to minimise bushfire hazards.

• Maintaining biodiversity and supporting ecological health.

• Managing vegetation to sustain the integrity of conservation areas.
