The Gladstone Region is located in Central Queensland, approximately 550 kilometres north of Brisbane and covers an area of 10,500 square kilometres. With two of the world’s largest alumina refineries, Queensland’s largest multi commodity port and a number of other major industrial giants sited locally, the Gladstone region is known for its employment opportunities and skilled workforce.

Gladstone Regional Council (GRC) requires a suitably qualified Contractor to undertake the Design and Construct of an Australian-manufactured fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) Boardwalk located along Jeffery Court, Agnes Water. The boardwalk is to be approximately 90m in length with a width varying between 2.8 - 3.2m, including handrail sections (as required) as detailed in this scope of work. The design shall insure that static electricity buildup across the boardwalk and load bearing members and foundation is adequately addressed. The contractor is responsible for the full design, RPEQ engineering certification, construction, site supervision and provision of as constructed drawings upon completion. '

The boardwalk must be designed and built to retain the existing trees, including avoiding damage to the trunks, roots and critical root zones as defined throughout this document. The project also includes the design and installation of xeric (low-water, drought tolerant) coastal landscaping to enhance amenity and provide a low maintenance interface around the boardwalk. The landscaping must be designed to thrive without irrigation.

As an alternative offer, the Contractor may provide a price for the Design and Construct of the new boardwalk utilising alternative composite materials (such as APR). Where such an alternative offer is presented, the contractor shall ensure that static electricity buildup across the boardwalk surface and load bearing members and foundation is adequately addressed.
