The Request for Tender (RFT) for the demolition of Buildings 014, 015, 016, and 055 represents an important step in this process, facilitating the removal of outdated structures and preparing the site for future development in alignment with the University’s long-term strategic objectives.
This project involves the complete demolition both above and below ground of Buildings 014, 015, 016, and 055. All hazardous materials identified within these buildings are to be safely removed and disposed of in accordance with relevant regulations. Associated building services and infrastructure that are not required for future University operations are to be removed and made safe at agreed termination or isolation points, ensuring no legacy issues remain.
Key infrastructure to be addressed includes potable water, electrical (HV/LV), sewer, stormwater, trunk data, communications pits, irrigation, carparks, redundant solar and wind-powered electrical generating systems, as well as nominated trees, signage, and similar elements.
Desired Outcomes ('Nice to haves', Conditions & Warranties, SLA's, Project benefits)
Details
Building 055 is to be treated contractually as a Separable Portion. Tenderers must ensure that all costs associated with Building 055 are clearly identified and priced separately from the remainder of the demolition project. This is to allow for the possibility that works on Building 055 may be delayed and/or the building remains occupied, in which case the option to include this portion of work may not be exercised.
Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) will comprise a significant portion of the hazardous materials to be removed from site. All ACM removal is to be undertaken in a controlled manner and in full compliance with relevant legislation and codes of practice.

Question
:
Good Afternoon
Will JCU Facilities Management engage with Energy Queensland (Ergon) to undertake HV switching (isolation) at RMU07, RMU08 for buildings 14, 15 & 16, plus RMU09 for building 55?
Enquiries will need to be undertaken promptly to facilitate a Site Start date of 23 February 2026.
Notification of successful tenders on 23rd January 2026 will not provide a sufficient time frame for electrical isolation at the RMU by Ergon.
Thanks,

:
Good morning,
Please be advised that as JCU own and control all of the infrastructure (including the HV network), no approvals need to be applied for as our MID covers all areas of the Demolition Project.
It will be the Contractor's responsibility to engage AMP Control for all HV works (including the switching or isolations) and any excavation works within 3M of any HV zone. Contractor will be required to complete a HV permit form 10 business days prior to any HV works being undertaken.
Thank you,
Hayley.
