Question:
Dear Sir/Madam,

We seek clarification on the following matters:

1. Alternative Installation Methods

We note the specification requires 100m of pipe bursting and 50m of CIPP lining. Given the relatively small quantities involved, these methods may not attract competitive pricing from specialist subcontractors.

Would Council consider alternative installation methods such as underboring or open trenching for these sections? If so, does Council have a preference between trenching or underbore for these sections?

We believe offering this flexibility would attract more competitive tender submissions and potentially deliver cost savings to Council.

2. Wills Street Quantity Discrepancy

Please clarify the correct pipe length for Wills Street. The pricing schedule indicates 186m, however the drawings appear to show approximately 503m to be replaced.

We would appreciate confirmation of the correct quantity to ensure accurate pricing.

Good morning,

Thank you for your queries. Please see below responses:

1. Alternative Installation Method: In accordance with the Technical Specifications, the final quantities and applicable construction methodologies will be confirmed following completion of the CCTV inspection.

Council is open to considering alternative construction methodologies. However, any proposed alternative methodology must be supported by a compliant submission for Council’s assessment and approval prior to acceptance.

It is further noted that the Schedule of Rates items are subject to change during construction, based on actual site conditions and confirmed methodology.

2. Wills Street – Quantity Discrepancy: A revised Schedule of Prices has been issued, which reflects the corrected and actual quantities applicable to Wills Street.

Kind regards
