The Gold Coast Waterways Authority requests tenders from suitably qualified respondents for Contruction of the GOLD COAST SAND BYPASS SHED EXTENSION as described in more detail in Part 5 – Scope.

Overview:

The Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA) requires a suitably qualified construction / builder contractor (Contractor) for the constructions of the extension of the Sand Bypass Shed, including structural and architectural elements of the building, patio, new office space, toilets (Ambulant Toilets and Showers & Accessible PWD), kitchen, lunchroom, kitchen, meeting room, access ramp, water services, plumbing, electrical works, storm water, handrails, downpipes, air conditioning (conder unit and fan units), storage area, stairs, outdoors amenities, and all items indicated in the design (drawings and specification). Even though there is a IFT detailed design which will be used for construction, there are some aspects of the design that needs to be designed by the Contractor; please refer to the Specification for further details.

This is a Turnkey Contract, which means that the successful Contractor shall deliver all materials, shall apply for all permits and approvals, shall build the facility, shall connect, and install all services (electricity, communications, media, water, sewers, etc, and deliver the facility for use

of the Gold Coast Waterways Authority as indicated in the Drawings and Specifications.

Background:

The Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA) was established in December 2012 by the Gold Coast Waterways Authority Act 2012 to strategically plan for, facilitate and manage the development and use of the Gold Coast waterways.

The largest asset which GCWA owns and operates is the Gold Coast Seaway Sand Bypass System (SBS). The SBS jetty was commissioned in 1986. The system transfers at least 500,000 m3 of sand from the Spit to South Stradbroke Island each year. The location of the SBS is shown in Part 5.

GCWA engaged a consultant to develop a detailed design IFT, which was completed in 2024. Once the Construction Contract is awarded, the Consultant will issue the For

Construction Design (Drawings and Specification). However, these documents will contain some elements that required the Successful Contractor to complete detailed design for Construction.

The scope of works for this project at this stage includes, but is not limited to, the following

activities:

• Construction of the new section of the shed to include all the details indicated in the Drawings and Specifications.

• Design component for the element requiring detailed design as indicated in the Drawings and Specification.

• Application for all permits and approvals.

• Installation of all services.
