Snowy Monaro Regional Council encompasses a region that is proud of its history. The Snowy Monaro Regional Council acknowledges that Aboriginal people – the Ngarigo, Walgalu and Southern Ngunnawal – are the original inhabitants and remain the custodians of where we live.

We are also a culturally diverse region, thanks to the Snowy Scheme which saw over 100,000 people from over 30 countries coming to work on the scheme. To this day the Region enjoys the benefits of our cultural diversity.

The region is home to 20,707 people and reflects a degree of cultural diversity that has its roots in agriculture, early gold mining, the Snowy Mountains Scheme, timber logging and skiing industries.

This tender seeks experienced contractors to undertake a comprehensive refurbishment, including the installation of cost affective, durable (vandalism resistant), low-maintenance fixtures, enhanced lighting, updated external façade and internal walls, floors and ceiling, and full compliance with current accessibility regulations.

The goal is to deliver a clean, safe, and welcoming facility that reflects the regions commitment to quality local and visitor experiences and supports its reputation as a premier travel destination.

This refurbishment project concerns the upgrade of a heavily used public amenities block situated in the heart of the Jindabyne Town Centre, a popular tourist town known for its high visitor traffic over the ski season and increasingly during summer months. The existing facility no longer meets the expectations of modern users or the standards required for a high-profile tourism hub. Frequent use since its construction in the 1980s has lead visible wear, outdated amenities and limited accessibility features.

1. Enhance User experience by providing a clean, safe and modern feeling facility that meets the expectations of both local residents and high volumes of tourists.

2. Improve accessibility, ensuring full compliance with current disability access standards including the installation of a new accessible toilet, ambulant toilets stalls, handrails and signage.

3. Increase durability and ease of maintenance by using robust, vandal-resistant materials and fitting designed to withstand heavy use and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
