Details
The State of Queensland through Queensland Health, Health Infrastructure Queensland (HIQ) on behalf of Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) is undertaking the procurement of a suitably qualified Design and Construct Building Contractor to deliver the Atherton Hospital Upgrades (the Project).

The Atherton Hospital Upgrade Program comprises a series of interconnected infrastructure projects designed to improve clinical service delivery, enhance patient outcomes, address infrastructure deficiencies, and support the future healthcare needs of the Atherton community and surrounding Tablelands region.

The Atherton Hospital Upgrade Program consists of the following projects:

• 25 Bed Ward Refurbishment;

• Oncology Refurbishment;

• New Morgue Building;

• High Dependency Unit (HDU); and

• Pathology Refurbishment.

The program includes the refurbishment and expansion of key clinical facilities within Atherton Hospital, together with the construction of new supporting infrastructure to improve service capability, operational efficiency, patient safety, and staff wellbeing. The projects have been developed in response to increasing service demand, ageing infrastructure, evolving healthcare models, and the need to provide contemporary, fit-for-purpose healthcare environments that support high-quality patient care.

Tenderers are invited to attend a site inspection on Wednesday 26 August 2026. Attendance at this meeting is non-mandatory but highly desirable.
