Clarence City Council (or City of Clarence) is a local government body in Tasmania, and one of the five municipalities that constitutes the Greater Hobart Area. The Clarence local government area has a population of 56,945, covering the eastern shore of the Derwent River from Otago to the South Arm Peninsula and the smaller localities of Cambridge, Richmond, and Seven Mile Beach.

The administrative centre and main commercial district of Clarence is Rosny Park, approximately 5 kilometres from the CBD of Hobart. Bellerive Oval lies immediately to the south, and the Hobart International Airport is located further north-west along the Tasman Highway.

Council invites Tenders to undertake works as specified in these Tender Documents for the following works at the Rosny and Richmond Tennis Courts sites.

Rosny Tennis Club, Courts 1&2 – 18 Bastick Street, Rosny

- Supply of all materials and consumables for the resurfacing of courts 1 and 2

- Supply of portable toilet and amenities for the duration of the works

- Install new sand filled synthetic grass surface

- Removal and appropriate disposal of all waste materials, including old court surface

Richmond Tennis Club, Courts 1&2 – 2 Victoria Street, Richmond

- Supply of all materials and consumables for the guttering and resurfacing

- Supply of portable toilet and amenities for the duration of the works

- Remove of the existing Courts 1&2 synthetic grass surface

- Install guttering as per sketch and LGAT drawing

- Install new sand filled synthetic grass surface

- Removal and appropriate disposal of all waste materials, including the court surface

Full details are provided in Schedule 1 of the specimen copy of the Contract appearing in Part 4 of this Invitation. Tenderers are to contact Council’s nominated contact officer named on the cover page if additional information is required to submit the Tender.

BACKGROUND

The Rosny Tennis Courts 1 and 2 were installed over 30 years ago with synthetic grass laid over an asphalt surface. The grass surface has reached end of life and is in poor condition. Council is also progressing a separate tender to repair the retaining wall adjacent to the courts as well as install new “like for like” perimeter fencing around Courts 1 and 2. These works are planned to be completed prior to any resurfacing works commencing. All site works must be completed prior to 31 Dec 2026.

The Richmond Tennis Courts were installed over 30 years ago and the existing synthetic surface is in poor condition due to its age. Additionally, stormwater ponds at the southern corner of the court. Council is undertaking works external to the court to improve the stormwater drainage, however the court requires a dish drain to be installed to better direct flow to the Council drain. The existing chain link fence and lighting will remain undisturbed during the works.

PRE-TENDER SITE MEETING

For clarification of the Works, a pre-Tender site meeting is scheduled for Rosny Tennis Club (18 Bastick Street) at 11:30am on Thursday 17 September on-site.

A further pre-Tender site meeting is then scheduled for Richmond Tennis Club (2 Victoria Street) at 12:30pm on Thursday 17 September on-site.

Attendance at this meeting is not mandatory; however, this will be the only opportunity to physically explore the site with the Superintendent in attendance.

Those intending to attend this meeting are requested to inform the contact person nominated on the front cover of this Tender Document prior to the meeting and arrange own transportation between sites.
