Question
:
Of the 1600 heavy vehicles per day, is there an estimate for the number of threshold 1 and 2 exceedances? This is for data storage and 4G transmission requirements.
Can TMR confirm the expected award date for the contract? Given the 3-week notice periods for site access and end of October delivery date, sensor selection will need to consider lead times.
Confirm if a certain level of accuracy is required for the temperature sensors.
Can nominal distances and expected (or max/min) measurement ranges for the displacement sensors be provided, and their required accuracy.
For the optional number plate detection, is a camera with combined ANPR and suitable optics acceptable? Or is the footage to capture number plates for human review?

Q. Of the 1600 heavy vehicles per day, is there an estimate for the number of threshold 1 and 2 exceedances? This is for data storage and 4G transmission requirements.
A. The number of Threshold 1 and Threshold 2 exceedances will depend on the final trigger levels adopted. As a guide, TMR aims to capture waveform data for responses exceeding those typically generated by a heavy vehicle of approximately 20 tonnes. For video capture, a lower trigger frequency may be appropriate. Suppliers may assume that approximately the largest 1% of responses would be captured, equating to around 16 events per day based on the expected traffic volume of 1600 heavy vehicles per day.
Q. Can TMR confirm the expected award date for the contract? Given the 3-week notice periods for site access and end of October delivery date, sensor selection will need to consider lead times.
A. The anticipated contract award date is approximately two weeks after the RFQ closing date, subject to evaluation outcomes and internal approvals.
Q Confirm if a certain level of accuracy is required for the temperature sensors.
A. A temperature sensor resolution of 0.01°C is required. No specific accuracy requirement has been mandated; however, suppliers should provide details of proposed temperature sensors including the accuracy
Q. Can nominal distances and expected (or max/min) measurement ranges for the displacement sensors be provided, and their required accuracy.
A. Pier 5 has a 375mm slotted hole in the expansion joint restraint angle. A longitudinal displacement sensor measurement range of approximately 400 mm, and transverse and vertical displacement sensor measurement ranges of approximately 50 mm are recommended. Suppliers may propose alternative ranges with justification.
Q. For the optional number plate detection, is a camera with combined ANPR and suitable optics acceptable? Or is the footage to capture number plates for human review?
A. Both approaches are acceptable. A camera with integrated ANPR capability is preferred where available; however, the system does not mandate ANPR functionality. The camera should provide image/video footage of sufficient quality to allow manual number plate identification and verification when required.

Question
:
Would the Principal consider an extension to the RFQ closing date from 9 September 2026 to 18 September 2026?
Answered on 04/Sep/2026 04:25 PM
:
Due to the desired project delivery schedule we are unable to extend the RFQ closing date.

Question
:
1 - Can you please provide drawings of the bridge? Specifically looking for drawing around the piers, expansion joints, and bearings where sensors are located to determine suitable mounting brackets and associated ancillaries.
2 - Can you please provide close up photos of the bearings, piers, and expansion joints around where sensors are to be located?
3 - Page 8 of the brief lists the specifications for the tilt sensors as 0.001m/m resolution required, while page 10 lists 0.0001m/m resolution required. The latter seems unnecessarily high. Can you please confirm required tilt sensor accuracy?
4 - Time Synchronisation requirements - Do you require all instruments to be time synchronized together (to within the 100Hz tolerance), and trigger together? For example, a vehicle that exceeds the threshold for a sensor at span 1 and begins data capture, will also cause simultaneous capture of data from sensors at span 5 at the same instant.
Or is it acceptable for a span 5 sensor to only capture data if its local threshold is exceeded, irrespective of whether readings are occurring on other spans?
5 - The brief mentions a buried battery (Wom-Bat) with solar panels on the pole near Abut A. Is a buried battery and solar panel off the bridge required, or are we free to propose an alternative with solar panels mounted to the bridge pier headstock?
6 - Site working hours are listed as 7pm to 5am (night works). Will TMR/RoadTek be providing temporary site lighting and site facilities (i.e. laydown area, toilet) during this period, or are we to include these in our scope?

Question
:
Q1. Engagement Brief, The uni-axial tilt sensor resolution is stated as 0.001 m/m in the Figure 5 legend and as 0.0001 m/m in the Instrumentation details table.
Q2. Strain sensor resolution is specified as 0.1 microstrain. The Scope table refers throughout to strains "relative to unloaded background strains", which indicates a dynamic (event-relative) measurement. Please confirm that 0.1 microstrain is a dynamic resolution requirement rather than an absolute accuracy requirement sustained over the monitoring period.
Q3. No measurement ranges are specified for the displacement sensors. Please confirm the expected movement ranges, or confirm that the Offeror may nominate them, for (a) girder to restraint angle vertical, longitudinal and transverse movements, and (b) longitudinal movement across the Pier 5 expansion joint under the full seasonal thermal range.
Q4. The location of the four provisional piezo sensors is stated as Span 5 in the Scope and in the Instrumentation details table, and as Span 4 in the Fee structure table. Please confirm the correct span.
Q5. The Figure 4 legend reads "Camera 25fps + Scene camera + Illumination", which may indicate two separate camera units, whereas the Instrumentation details table states a quantity of one. Please confirm the required number of camera units.
Q6. The provisional piezo sensors require a saw-cut slot in the deck running surface. Please confirm that TMR accepts this intervention to the wearing surface, confirm the reinstatement standard required, and confirm that TMR will provide and pay for the lane closure and traffic management required for deck-level works. The Excluded section addresses traffic control associated with access by UBIU or EWP, which is a different operation.
Q7. The deck top temperature sensors are to be located 30 mm below the top surface of the deck. Please confirm that coring of the running surface and any waterproofing membrane is permitted, confirm the reinstatement detail required, and confirm that TMR will provide the lane closure and traffic management for this work, which cannot be undertaken from beneath the bridge.
Q8. Please clarify the extent of Provisional item 7. In particular whether it comprises transfer of title in the installed hardware, confirm what is intended by "monitoring logic" whether a perpetual licence to the configured logger programs and processing logic, delivery of source, or both — and whether any continuing access to the data platform is required.
Q9. The reference system describes a buried battery adjacent to the pole. Please confirm which party is responsible for excavation approvals, service location (Before You Dig Australia), and any environmental or cultural heritage clearances required for excavation within the road reserve.
Q10. Please confirm that TMR will provide the calibration vehicle, its driver, traffic management and a certified weighbridge docket for the vehicle mass, and confirm the expected duration of the calibration exercise so that a consistent allowance can be made across offers.
Q11. The reference system specifies three days of battery autonomy without charge. In this locality the summer wet season can produce longer periods of heavy overcast. Would TMR wish a five-day or seven-day autonomy options to be priced separately?
