The Department of Education (DoE) is calling for submissions for the refurbishment of Amenities Blocks D and U at Birkdale South SS at 451 Old Cleveland Rd E, Birkdale QLD 4159 as part of the prioritised nominated project.

Block D is approximately 207sqm and Block U is approximately 68 sqm and they are of traditional construction, featuring a pitched, metal-profiled roof. The 1980s-era blocks comprise separate boys’ and girls’ toilets, with Block D having other amenity rooms, and Block U having a large storeroom. The refurbishment will reconfigure the layouts and includes accessible bathrooms. There is general restricted access around the block. The majority of the internal fabric will be fully refurbished and will include new perforated screens in newly created openings to improve visibility of the wash areas. Temporary toilets are to be provided to the students. All works are scheduled for completion by October 2025.

Tender submissions will be accepted from contractors that meet the following requirements:

• Appropriate QBCC Builders licences to undertake the entire scope of works

• Professional Indemnity Insurance to the value of $1,000,000.00

It is anticipated that a minimum of a QBCC (Low Rise) builders’ licence will be required for this project. Contractors are required to hold Professional Indemnity Insurance in accordance with the contract.
