Toowoomba Regional Council is the local government authority for an area extending from the city of Toowoomba to the east, the townships of Millmerran in the west, Clifton in the south and Yarraman to the north.

Council conducts an extensive management program for declared plants across council owned land and enforcement activity on private property. As part of these programs, council requires a number of suitably qualified persons to provide a range of services to ensure the effective management of weeds in a variety of circumstances. This contract is a preferred supplier arrangement for the provision of contract weed spraying.

Under the Queensland Biosecurity Act 2014, Council, as a landowner, is required to take reasonable steps to keep land free of restricted and prohibited invasive matter (declared plants). Council is also charged with ensuring compliance with the Act by other landholders within the council area.

Council utilises various methods for the management of declared plants throughout the region including boom spray, quick spray, and manual removal. The style of work may vary and could include roadside spraying, treatment of weeds in natural areas and enter and clear operations on private land.

The amount, area and targeted weed species to be treated as part of this program will vary between treatments and between seasons due to environmental conditions. Council is unable to provide specifics on the amount of work that will be required from contractors on the preferred supplier arrangement.
