Question
:
The communications infrastructure specified in the pricing schedule is a 48 core SAC fibre optic cable as a future provision for BMS.
Given that each light will be controlled via DALI, we don’t believe that individual communications cables will be required.
If future BMS is installed, it can be located within the lighting control switchboard.
This BMS can then be integrated with the DALI controller.
Can the council please confirm whether this approach would be excepted?
Answered on 04/Jun/2026 02:13 PM
:
Thank you for your query
An alternative BMS communications submission will be acceptable. The intension is to provide a BMS solution that is accessible to electrical contractors to troubleshoot future issues with the system as well as have the capacity to control operation remotely through the Council microwave link and ICT capabilities on site. Ideally when the field is booked the lights can be controlled for the duration of the booking without customers needing to manually turn the lights on and off.
