Business Info
The Central Highlands region is in Central Queensland, Australia. The region encompasses an area of around 60 000 square kilometres, making it just short of the size of Tasmania.

It is home to around 30 000 people who live in the thirteen unique communities of Arcadia Valley, Bauhinia, Blackwater, Bluff, Capella, Comet, Dingo, Duaringa, Emerald, Rolleston, Sapphire Gemfields, Springsure and Tieri.

Our region is rich in minerals and agriculture, thriving on irrigation sourced from water storage on the Nogoa and Comet rivers. We claim the largest sapphire-producing fields in the Southern Hemisphere.

Major freight routes through the region include the north-south link between Charters Towers and northern New South Wales—identified as the inland transport alternative between Cairns and Melbourne.

Question:
Good day,

We have the following queries in relation to the specification:

1. Gas Detector Scope

Can Council confirm the total number of gas detection units included in the scope, and whether docking stations are included as part of the servicing and calibration requirements?

2. Site Spread and Scheduling

Can Council confirm whether sites can be grouped into a single service run, or if any locations require separate mobilisation or scheduling?

3. Spare Parts / Repairs

Can Council confirm whether a schedule of rates for spare parts is required, or if all parts are to be treated as additional works and quoted separately as defects?

4. BA Service Frequency

The specification refers to 6-monthly reducer overhauls. Can Council confirm whether servicing in line with OEM/manufacturer recommendations would be acceptable, including annual testing and condition-based overhaul where appropriate?

5. Major Overhaul Interval

The specification refers to a 6-yearly major overhaul interval. Can Council confirm whether this may be aligned with OEM recommendations, which may allow extended intervals subject to appropriate annual testing?

Answered on 01/May/2026 09:08 AM:

Please be advised as follows:

1. As per the pricing schedule there are 4 gas detectors. There are limited docking stations and it is expected that these are also checked as part of the servicing.

2. Council expects the servicing to be done in a single service run.

3. Spare parts will be quoted separately as required.

4. Please price as per the scope of works with 6-monthly servicing for the BA equipment.

5. Please price for the major overhaul as per the scope of works.
