Details
Balranald Shire Council intends to upgrade the visitor amenities at the Benanee Lake Rest Area to improve public infrastructure, enhance user experience, and encourage increased visitation to the area.

The proposed works comprise the demolition and replacement of two (2) existing aged rest shelters with new shelter structures and reinforced concrete slabs at the existing locations. In addition, two (2) new electric-operated BBQ shelter facilities are proposed to be constructed as part of the site improvement works.

The project is intended to provide safe, durable, and low-maintenance recreational facilities for public use. All works shall be undertaken in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, applicable Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, manufacturer recommendations, and Council specifications.

This project does not require Development Application (DA) approval. A Review of Environmental Factors (REF) will be undertaken by Council to facilitate and enable the progression of the project

If not, will the Council provide the geotechnical report, or will it be the contractor’s responsibility to arrange the geotechnical investigation?

Could you please confirm whether there is any existing water and electrical supply available for the BBQ facilities?

1) There are water taps in close proximity to the existing toilet block; therefore, it is not necessary to provide new water taps near the proposed BBQ shelters.

2) Electrical connection to the BBQ shelters will be completed by Council at a later stage. At this stage, please provide an electrical connection point within the shelter.

Is structural engineering design and certification required for the footings, slab and structure?

Does electrical connection to the new BBQ's form part of this scope of works or will this be completed by Council at a later date?

1) If you have footing details from similar building works, these can be acceptable. Otherwise, please provide certification for the proposed shelter footing structure.

2) Electrical connection to the BBQ shelters will be completed by Council at a later stage. At this stage, please provide an electrical connection point within the shelter.
