Our 7,500 strong workforce delivers services across our South East Queensland and Regional networks, including Travel and Tourism services and Regional Freight.
Our South East Queensland team provides 8,392 services each week, supporting our customers to reach their destination safely and on-time. In 2019-2020, 44 million passenger trips were taken on the South East Queensland network (a decrease of approximately 20 per cent compared to 2018-2019, associated with COVID-19).
The Regional networks commuter and rail tourism markets are serviced by the Travel and Tourism products. These comprise eight services connecting Regional communities across Queensland with other Regional centres and the South East Queensland corner. These services support the Queensland tourism industry through the provision of unique rail tourism experiences including special events and charters through the operation of a small fleet of heritage services.
Our Regional networks and Freight team provides rail access for freight operators and other Queensland Rail supply chain customers to enable the critical transport of resources and general freight across the state.

Queensland Rail is seeking submissions from suitably qualified suppliers for the provision of a Yard Management System (YMS) under the Queensland Information Technology Contracting (QITC) Framework.

The solution may be delivered as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), licensed software, or developed software, with associated services such as implementation, configuration, integration, testing, technical documentation and ongoing support.

The project includes the delivery of functional and non-functional capabilities for yard planning, stabling management, operational visibility, integrations with existing QR systems, and support for day-of-operations activities.

Services may be delivered remotely or on-site as required, with the primary delivery and systems environment located in Queensland, Australia.

The Yard Management System will interface with multiple Queensland Rail operational systems and must comply with QR’s security, technical and integration standards.

Suppliers will be required to meet the specifications contained within:

ICT High Level Design (HLD)

ICT Detailed Design (DD)

Compatibility with QR’s integration architecture, identity services (SSO), testing environments, and data governance requirements is essential.
