Good Morning,
Please confirm the following from the site visit yesterday.
- Supply & installation of chillers by client.

Answered on 29/May/2025 11:08 AM
:
The two chillers are supplied, installed and commissioned by UniSQ – The Contractor is to allow to manage the crane lift and all SWMS, Permits etc by client provided to Contractor for their review/feedback. Any changes required by the contractor will be carried out at client cost.
NO, the supplier will manage all of this, the Contractor is to ensure it happens to plan.
NO, the supplier will manage all of this, the Contractor is to ensure it happens to plan and permits are in place.
For the avoidance of doubt, the roof plant platform design, certification/engineering, supply, installation including crane lift of the platform to the roof is the contractors cost and management.

Question
:
Good morning
Partition Insulation - The R8 insulation proposed is 350mm thick batt and is proposed for the WS02 - 92mm stud partition. The insulation will not fit. Are you looking for Acoustic or Thermal control?
To achieve higher acoustic control using a 92mm stud we suggest -92mm stud plus single layer each side, of Acoustic (Sound rated) plaster board and insulation of 90mm thick Pink Partition 24Kg/M3 This will achieve and RW50 db.
If you want Thermal control and need the R8 insulation you can build a double stud wall and create an internal cavity of 350mm for the R8 insulation. Please confirm your option required. There are many other options and combinations to select from for delivering thermal and acoustic control. Happy to discuss further to provide solution.
Cable Tray
Can you please confirm if you want Stainless steel or Aluminium for the new Non-ferrous Cable tray?
Can you please confirm the height of the new cable tray in the Fridge room - Above or below new raked ceiling?
Can you please confirm the height of the new cable tray in the Control room - Above or below T Bar ceiling?
The existing tray from the corridor enters around the Fridge room side of the new works, please confirm how you want the new tray to join the existing tray?
Does the Cable tray need to be painted Blue or Orange to match the existing corridor trays?
Regards, A Dart - Peter Stevens
Answered on 05/Jun/2025 10:34 AM
:
Acoustic, the R8 reference is an error and should have read R1.8 however please allow for R2.5 (Knauf Earthwool Sound Shield Insulation comes 90mm thick for R2.5)
Cable tray can be Aluminium, fibreglass, plastic is fine – nothing with iron in it.
The raked ceiling is hard against the roof purlins, the cable tray will be above the 2700mm ceiling height of the flat ceiling and below the raked ceiling.
Above T bar ceiling.
New cable tray is independent of the existing, they do not have to meet / join.
No, it is not blue or orange, preference is not to match existing as this cable tray is for cabling experiments not base building power and data – white would be a preference if possible.

Question
:
Good Afternoon,
Please see below RFI's for USQ Cryo Lab:
1. Drawing ES04 states “INSTALL SINGLE MODE FIBRE FROM MAIN BUILDING COMMUNICATIONS RACK TO EACH INSTRUMENT RACK; NUMBERS OF CORE TBC BY CLIENT IT DEPARTMENT”. Please confirm the quantity to be allowed?
2. Further to the site visit, please confirm if there is essential power to the F Block and if so, where the board is?
3. Please provide the scope for the chiller installation by others? And the specification of the chillers purchased?
4. Please could you provide the Proteox Site Planning Guide?
5. Could you please confirm the size and weight of the instrument racks, including all items to be installed within?
6. Is there any requirement for penetrations to be treated for fire, acoustics, thermals etc?
Kind Regards
Answered on 05/Jun/2025 10:37 AM
:
1. Please delete this requirement as no fibre is required, this is an error from the electrical engineer.
2. Refer As-Built Electrical plans attached, if no essential power within the building then this requirement is removed as it is a “nice to have”.
3. Refer attached.
4. Refer attached document which has been marked up for design consultant information.
5. This rack is by UniSQ and equipment by the research team – there is no information to provide for the tender.
6. Acoustic only.

Question
:
Good Afternoon,
Can we please get confirmation on the following:
Furniture Specifications
The drawings do not indicate any specific furniture details. During the site inspection, it was noted that furniture not labelled "by others" is to be supplied by the Builder. Please confirm the specifications of the chairs, desks and Test Trolley Storage Rack or if there is any other furniture to be provided by the Contractor.
Double Glazed Doors
We assume that the two nominated glazed doors (from the Control Room to the Fridge Room) are to be double glazed, the drawings don't specifically mentioned them being double glazed. Also, confirm the required door hardware specifications.
Compressor Hose Tray – Drawing AA4504
On drawing AA4504, a note states: "Compressor to fridge hoses suspension tray above." Please confirm if this scope is to be carried out by the refrigeration contractor engaged by USQ.
Finishes Schedule – CE01 (PT05)
CE01 references "Insulation Paint PT05." We assume this should refer to both insulation and paint. Please confirm. If insulation is required, is R2.7 soundbreaker insulation acceptable?
Control Screens – Drawing ES04
Near the entry door on drawing ES04, there is a reference to "Control Screens." Please clarify what this refers to and if this is within the Contractors scope?
Plant Deck Design and Roof Load Verification
We understand the plant deck will be designed by the Contractor. Please confirm whether USQ will be responsible for assessing and confirming the structural adequacy of the existing roof for the additional plant load.
Anti-Static Flooring Requirements
The specified flooring product, Armstrong Accolade Plus, is inherently antistatic (= 2kV) when installed directly over concrete and does not require or support copper wire earthing. Armstrong does not provide an earthing system or associated design. Therefore, if USQ intends to proceed with this product, a consultant would need to be engaged to confirm whether the product meets USQ’s antistatic performance requirements.
Alternatively, the Polyflor Palettone SD range offers a system that supports copper wire earthing. The key difference is:
• Armstrong Accolade Plus: Antistatic properties prevent the transfer of static discharge from a person through the vinyl, but do not actively disperse static.
• Polyflor Palettone SD: Provides a static dissipative system where static charges are grounded through the flooring via earthing.
Polyflor currently has stock available for some finishes; however, if stock is unavailable at the time of order, lead times may be approximately 3–4 months.
Please confirm how you would like us to proceed regarding the anti-static flooring selection.

1. Plant platform, are there any details on how this is fixed to the structure? Are we to allow for scans, peno’s, flashing, etc to the cladding? The platform does not require any fixings through the roof, the manufacturer will design and certify the platform, UniSQ consultant design engineer to review shop drawings to confirm loading on existing structure.
2. With the chiller installer, confirming that all access, scanning, peno’s, flashing, sealants, make good, seismic are included sometimes these items are missed from the quote. The chiller supplier is responsible for the entire supply, installation and commissioning of the chillers, the Head Contractor is requested to only supervise and manage the crane lift of the chillers on to the plant platform.
3. Are there time frames available for the chiller arrival onsite? The ETA for the chiller arrival to Brisbane is Thursday 20th July, delivery to site to be coordinated with the install of the platforms.
4. Are structural supporting posts required to the walls extending to the ceiling? Consultant Engineer confirms the partitioning system should be sufficient for the fridge wall height, no requirement any structural posts.
5. Are structural supporting posts required to the 1200mm high walls? The partitioning system should be sufficient for the fridge wall glazing, likely double stud the window openings, please refer to the partition manufacturer guidelines as no posts required.
