In the schedule of rates (machinery items) there is no allowance for a tip truck with chipper bin or a loader/skid steer. Daily used equipment in arboriculture that is generally not hired but is owned. Could you advise where these items will be incorporated?

In regards to the below query, we cannot include every piece of equipment and machinery due to sizing difference, therefore equipment and machinery owned and used would be priced at time of the works, whereas schedule of rate (machinery items) are items with locked in pricing.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate that it isn't practical to include every type and size of machinery within the Schedule of Rates.

My query relates specifically to the tip truck with chipper bin, as this is considered an essential piece of equipment for virtually all arboricultural operations rather than an optional plant item. Regardless of the size or capacity of the truck, a tip truck is required to tow the woodchipper and to collect, transport and dispose of the mulch generated during pruning and removal works. As such, it would be expected to be utilised on the majority, if not all, arboricultural jobs.

I appreciate that equipment such as a loader or skid steer may not be required for every job and could reasonably be priced on a case-by-case basis where its use is necessary. However, could you please clarify how the tip truck is intended to be priced under the contract if it is not included within the Schedule of Rates?

As outlined, the contractor has the flexibility to address these costs in one of two ways: they may choose to incorporate them into their hourly rates, or alternatively, include them as part of the wood chipping fee under ARBS003. This is ultimately a business decision for the contractor to evaluate and determine based on their operational and pricing strategy

Good afternoon

We will be tendering for the reporting aspect only. In the pricing it requests pricing for 1 tree, 2-10 trees and 11+ trees. Is it acceptable to price the reporting in blocks of 10 trees? I'm concerned 11+ tree is very open ended.

A supplier cannot apply to provide the reporting services component only. The mandatory requirement for this SOA is the Cert III and undertake the services required under this qualification (eg stump grinding, removing dangerous trees, branch removal etc), with the potential to offer the reporting services (in-house or subcontracted).

For reporting is it acceptable to put an attendance fee for each zone which is additional to the block of tree pricing?

No, pricing must be provided as per the breakdown provided in Part D – Schedule of Prices.
