Question:
One of our Operable Wall subcontractors have raised a query on the TBV1 timber veneer shown on drawing A09-25 and the Interior Finishes and FF&E Schedule. We have been advised by the nominated supplier (Briggs Veneers) that the operable wall finish ‘Tallowwood Veneer’ will not comply to a Group 2 Fire Rating & that their recommendation is a Tassy Oak - Crown/Quarter cut which does comply to a Group 2.

Answered on 16/Dec/2025 10:38 AM:

Arts Queensland acknowledges that the proposed wall finish, ‘Tallowwood Veneer,’ does not comply the Group 2 Fire Rating requirements. However, any substitution of the wall finish will necessitate an on-site review and consultation with GOMA representatives.

For tender submissions, tenderers are to base on the specified ‘Tallowwood Veneer’ wall finish, noting that substitution is mandatory and will be subject to further review and formal approval prior to procurement.
