Ballina Shire Council is located on the New South Wales Far North Coast, 770 kilometres north of Sydney and 190 kilometres south of Brisbane. The Shire, an area of 484 square kilometres, is set amongst a picturesque rural-coastal landscape and enjoys a temperate to mild subtropical climate.

The Shires resident population is approximately 45,000 with major service centre Ballina servicing the major townships of Alstonville, Lennox Head, Wollongbar, and Wardell. As well as a number of smaller villages and localities including Cumbalum, Teven, Tintenbar and Knockrow.

Ballina Shire Council acknowledges that we are here on the land of the Bundjalung people. The Bundjalung are the traditional owners of this land and are part of the oldest surviving continuous culture in the world.

Ballina Shire Council is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor to undertake design, supply, and construction of a public playground at Lions Park, Lennox Head.

The playground must be constructed to the required standards in accordance the Ballina Shire Playground Upgrade and Management Plan, relevant playground hierarchy and attached specifications.

Specifically, Council requires that the Contractor:

• maintain a high standard of work, health and safety.

• understand the sensitive environmental issues of the area

• follow current best practice within the industry; and

• utilize new technical innovations and methodologies.

The full scope of works and services requested are detailed below.

Ballina Shire Council has an adopted Playground Upgrade and Management Plan that identifies a hierarchy and program for the renewal and upgrade of its playgrounds. Several priority playground projects are identified each financial year to progress the outcomes of this plan.
