Cook Shire is the largest land area shire in Queensland. From the Bloomfield River in the south to just north of the Jardine River, it covers more than 100,000km2 and occupies 80 per cent of Cape York Peninsula.

Cook Shire is a vibrant area, from the main township of Cooktown to smaller outlying communities rich in indigenous history, agriculture, tourism and arts. About half of the Shire's 5000-strong population live in Cooktown, on the banks of the Endeavour River, with the remainder spread between the smaller population centres of Marton, Laura, Lakeland, Coen, Ayton, Rossville, Portland Roads and offshore islands including Lizard Island.

Due to Cook Shire's commitment to open and effective competition and value for money, we will regularly call for tenders, expressions of interest or request for quotes on projects of lesser value to ensure the best contractor is sourced, locally where possible.

The buyer has elected to have their personal and contact details hidden. These details will be revealed at the buyers discretion.

Cook Shire Council invites Tenders from suitably qualified Tenderers for the design, supply, installation, commissioning and completion of solar system at the Cooktown Events Centre as described in more detail in Part 5 – Scope.

Location: 3 May Street, Cooktown

System Size: Approximately 130kW (contractor to determine size suitability)

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT:

• The solar system at the Community Events Centre MUST be installed as a carpark-mounted solar shade structure.

• Roof-mounted systems will NOT be accepted.

• The Contractor is responsible for:

o Full structural design of the carpark shade structure

o Cyclone-rated design suitable for Far North Queensland

o Integration with existing carpark layout

o Drainage and stormwater considerations

o Electrical integration with existing switchboards

This is a fully turnkey project. Council expects the successful Contractor to manage all aspects required to deliver an operational system.

Works are to be completed before 30 June 2027.
