The department is seeking to modernise the administration of regulated waste transport across Queensland, leveraging contemporary digital services.

The waste tracking framework provides oversight to the movement of regulated waste throughout Queensland. It enables the management of data about generation, transport and disposal of waste, which supports environmental protection, regulatory compliance and accountability throughout its lifecycle.

While the existing IT solution supports core waste tracking requirements, the department is seeking opportunities to modernise and enhance this capability to improve industry adoption, data collection, process efficiency, and provide a foundation for future service delivery.

To inform this strategic investment path, the department is undertaking a Proof of Concept (PoC) to assess potential delivery approaches in the market.
