The Gympie region comprises of eight divisions, represented by the Mayor and eight other councillors (Council).

Within these divisions, Councillors are responsible for a diverse range of portfolios on behalf of their community, including; planning and economic development, disaster management, business, environmental sustainability and water management.

Council plans strategically to ensure services, infrastructure and facilities remain relevant for the community, as well as provide for the needs of a growing resident population.

Council is seeking a suitably qualified contractor/s to collect and recycle scrap metal waste received at its Waste Management Facilities (WMF’s) and Council Depots (CD’s) for a period of two (2) years (with possible extensions of 2 x 12 months.

Scrap metal waste includes all ferrous and non-ferrous metal items, excluding electronic waste. The Council Depots will require the supply of bins at their 3 depots to be provided for Ferrous Metal only.

The aim of the contract is to establish a service to support Council’s broader resource recovery goals, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce safety risks associated with on-site stockpiling.
