Good afternoon,

Yes, there is a stockpile location South of James Cook Drive which may be utilised as part of the PE19 project for excess fill/topsoil. However, note Contractor to please still provide a provisional sum for ‘Contaminated fill removal and replacement’ as per Schedule 3 incase this is required.

In accordance with STP25-1372-C101, the surface finish of concrete footpaths is to be as per JCU specifications. Can JCU please provide the specification or advise if there is a specific surface finish, colour oxide etc. to be allowed for?

Surface finishing to match existing pathways i.e.:

1. Exposed aggregate Country Gold Stone

2. Colour 6% CCS Sundance

3. Slip resistance to be P4

4. Sealant penetrative

Note as per STP drawing C101 pavement specification, all footpaths, ramps and cross falls to be complaint with AS1428.1. Concrete pathways to be 125mm thick, N32 concrete with SL72 Mesh, 40mm top cover. 50mm Sand bedding.

For anything other details required refer to TCC standard drawing SD-070 e.g. for jointing.

Question:
1) Two drawings provide different specifications for the handrail on the footpath. Drawing C103 specifies a stainless-steel handrail, while Drawing C405 specifies a black powder-coated pool fence. Could you please confirm which one is correct?

2) The Douglas Geotech report identifies the presence of uncontrolled fill/Class P material. Could you please provide further direction, for pricing purposes, on whether the uncontrolled fill is to be removed and reused, or removed and replaced?

Apologies in the delay in responding.

1. Stainless steel handrail is correct at per C103 and specification. Ignore black powder coated pool fence reference on C405.

2. The Geotech report says to remove and reinstate the uncontrolled fill in a controlled manner. In relation to the presence of roots/organics in the fill, it should be removed, stockpiled and reinstated in a controlled manner before installing the pavement. Note, as per previous correspondence, we have nominated the JCU stockpile area off James Cook Drive at rear of the campus for stockpiling.

Are you able to please provide specification for concrete mix in light duty concrete footpath? We note from the drawings: All pathways to be finished with exposed finish to match existing.

Are you able to please confirm what is required to be allowed for landscape areas? E.g Topsoil and reseed?

Are you able to please confirm the extent of trafficable concrete pavement? It seems all the vehicular areas are asphalt as per the layout drawing.
