Question:
Good afternoon,

Seeking clarification on the engineering element of this panel.

Will this also encompass civil engineering of roads and bridges?

Thank you.

Answered on 30/Jan/2026 12:04 PM:

Response:

1. The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) seeks to establish a consolidated Building and Technical Inspectorate Panel comprising engineering, general building, and trade-qualified vendors. This panel will provide specialist inspection and reporting services that extend beyond the technical expertise of QBCC’s in-house inspectorate employees.

The panel arrangement is critical to ensuring the continuity of essential inspection services across Queensland, particularly in areas requiring specialist qualifications, licences, or independent expertise. Services will include the inspection and assessment of a wide range of building elements, from structural and engineering systems through to specialist trade applications such as waterproofing, tiling, termite management, roofing, and painting.

The establishment of this panel supports QBCC’s statutory role in protecting homeowners, regulating the building industry, and delivering dispute resolution, insurance, and regulatory functions. It also ensures the Commission has access to a reliable, prequalified pool of technical experts to provide independent, timely, and high-quality advice to homeowners, contractors, and regulatory decision-makers.

2. No
