What the buyer is requesting
Details
The Department of Primary Industries are seeking proposals for the Design, Scope Development and Construction of a fisheries offshore patrol vessel (minimum 18m), including a RHIB boarding vessel.

The new vessel will be used to conduct offshore patrols for approximately ten days duration, covering approximately 700 nautical miles per trip. A cruising speed of 20 knots is sought.

An operational range of 700 nautical miles for up to 10 days at sea is required due to the remote area of operation and short notice complaint response. Provisioning and capacity for this range is required.

The vessel will require the capability to accommodate up to 5 officers for up to 10 days at sea and averaging 100 days at sea annually.

A hydraulic stern ramp will be required to launch and retrieve a boarding vessel – RHIB.

The boarding vessel is required to safely operate up to 20 nautical miles from the mother vessel in offshore waters with up to four persons onboard.

Both vessels are to be fitted with modern, commercial-grade marine electronics suitable for offshore and reef navigation, including radar, GPS, depth sounders, satellite communications, infrared camera systems and CCTV systems (main vessels).

The contract requirements are specified in Attachment 1 - Statement of Requirement

Question:
Does the vessel have to be a monohull or will the Dept accept other hull configurations as a complying bid?

Answered on 17/Nov/2025 05:21 PM:

It is the department's preference that the vessel type to be a monohull on the basis of its enhanced capability to safely deploy and recover the primary vessel’s Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) tender, under moderate sea conditions.
