The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) is seeking to understand and assess what DMF-6 compatible Mass Data Storage (MDS) solutions are available in the market to support the planning and delivery of scientific MDS capabilities that meet current and future requirements.

This Expression of Interest (EOI) process is intended to achieve the following objectives:

• identify Suppliers capable of providing a DMF-6 compatible MDS solution.

• understand the range of solutions available in the market.

The EOI process provides Suppliers with an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities in addressing DETSI’s business and technical objectives for a replacement MDS system. Responses received will be assessed and shortlisted for Stage Two – Request for Quote (RFQ), and to support the possible establishment of a strategic partnership for at least five (5) years.

DETSI’s current HPC capability is an on-premises hosted specialist large compute that processes extensive multi-dimensional datasets solving complex problems at extremely high speeds. The compute is attached to tiered MDS that provides a range of storage performance and capacity at multi-petabyte scales with specific provisions for 'cloud burst' when necessary.

DETSI is seeking the following information from the supplier market:

1. Ability to provide a mass data storage solution that complies with the requirements defined in the Mandatory Business and Technical Requirements (Section 4 of the EOI).

2. Ability to supply the required goods and services for at least five (5) years under a Queensland Information Technology Contracting (QITC) agreement as a lease, as-a-service or other arrangement.
