Details
The objectives of this request for quotation are to appoint a suitable qualified and experienced contractor to works to construct an extension to the Broken Hill City Council Cremation Garden, which will include 9x new garden beds with concrete kerbing, fence and irrigation extension, and the planting of new standard roses and turf. Contractors who have experience in this type of construction project or similar and are able to complete works immediately will be preferred.
The scope of the project is to increase the current site by 9 additional garden beds and extend the fencing and turf around the site.
The garden beds would include.
1. Site Preparation
• Survey and mark out location for 9 new garden beds, turf area, and fencing alignment.
• Clear the designated area of debris, existing vegetation, and obstructions.
• Ensure site levels are appropriate for drainage and bed layout.
2. Concrete Kerbing Installation
• Supply and install approximately 330 lineal metres of concrete kerbing around the perimeter of the 9 new garden beds.
• Ensure kerbing matches existing site aesthetics and dimensions.
• Allow for proper curing time and control joints as required.
3. Garden Bed Construction
• Excavate and prepare subgrade within kerbed areas.
• Supply and install 65m³ of in-fill garden soil evenly across the 215m² garden bed area.
• Top with 6m³ of mulch for moisture retention and weed control.
4. Planting
• Supply and plant 117 standard roses (13 per bed x 9 beds), ensuring species, spacing, and orientation are consistent with existing plantings.
• Install 117 rose stakes, tying plants securely with appropriate fasteners to support growth.
5. Irrigation
• Extend and connect the new garden beds to the existing irrigation system.
• Ensure adequate coverage and water delivery to each new rose plant.
• Test system post-installation for leaks, pressure, and coverage efficiency.
6. Turfing
• Prepare and level ground over the 210m² turf area.
• Supply and lay turf to match existing species and density.
• Roll and water turf immediately after laying to ensure proper establishment.
7. Fencing
• Supply and install 75 lineal metres of fencing to match existing type and height.
• Include posts, rails, and panels as per existing fence specifications.
• Ensure secure installation and alignment with existing fencing layout.
8. Site Finishing and Clean-Up
• Remove and dispose of all construction waste, excess materials, and debris.
• Conduct a final inspection to ensure all works are complete and compliant.
All measurements are used as a guide for quotation purposes. Final measurements and amounts to be determined by successful company and signed off by Council.

Details
The Cemetery in Broken Hill is located on the outskirts of the city. This Cemetery has been in operation since the 1889 and contains the graves of many notable people, including miners, politicians, and artists.
The Cemetery service is funded by Council’s general fund with user charges generating income for burials and internments. The current Cremation Memorial Rose Garden is getting close to capacity and an extension is needed of the current site to ensure capacity for cremations internments.

Details
• Works to be completed to high standard.
• Respect given to users of the facility, as cremation gardens will remain open and in use during construction stage.
• Works to be completed immediately after receiving Letter of Award.
• Provide all requested documentation to ensure financial and safety requirements of the project.
• Any sub-contractors proposed during the project must be identified in your response.
• Any waste or materials that need to be removed from site must be taken to the Broken Hill Waste Management Facility, with associated costs identified.
