Details
Regional Reset program is targeted to young people 8 to 17 years old and their family, where the young person is displaying a pattern of early criminal and/or anti-social behaviors (including drug and alcohol misuse and anger management issues) and are, or at high risk of, coming into contact with police and/or court system, and may be disengaged from school.
The program is intended to help these young people and their families by providing a short stay of 1 to 3 weeks, as well as mentoring and therapeutic supports for a period pre and post stay. The program will focus on education, discipline, counselling, training and employment skills that include community volunteering, cultural activities, skills, adventure and sport. Regional Reset is an opportunity to divert young people from their high-risk environments and provide an opportunity for respite and to reset relationships, behaviors and attitudes.
The program will provide culturally responsive pre-stay engagement with young people and their family (or guardian/carer where appropriate). Post completion of the reset, the service will provide short-term aftercare to embed learnings for both the young person and family, as well as support warm referrals to community-based supports to address ongoing needs.

Question
:
Hi,
Can you please provide information on whether there is an estimation or expectation of the number of young people to be accommodated at any one time at a safe property for any particular region?
Answered on 05/Mar/2025 02:53 PM
:
There is no established benchmark for the number of participants who must be accommodated at any one time. Participant numbers may vary and will depend on a range of factors, such as:
• supplier’s ability to deliver multiple short stays per annum within the available budget
• staffing needed to provide appropriate level of support to deliver the short stay, including relevant activities and structured supports
• the ratio of staff to young people based on the various contributing needs of young people, such as age, gender
• the presenting factors of young people, low / medium / high risk factors may determine group sizes and each short stay may be different
• appropriateness of the short stay i.e.: location / facilities would also be a determining factor in the number of participants that can be safely supported.
