The Department of Education is seeking information from the market to support its review of Data Backup and Recovery services across its school, corporate and data centre environments.

This Request for Information (RFI) forms part of a broader program of work to understand current challenges, validate requirements and inform future planning and procurement activities. Further information regarding the project, current environment, requirements and desired outcomes is provided throughout this document.

This RFI represents an important opportunity for suppliers to contribute their insights, experience and market knowledge to help inform the Department's future direction.

The Department welcomes supplier participation and values the time and expertise invested in responding to this request.

The department is seeking market information and insights regarding contemporary data backup and recovery solutions and associated service delivery models, along with validation of market ability to provide a solution to the requirements within the RFI documentation.

The department currently operates backup and recovery services across a diverse technology environment comprising approximately 1,300 schools locations, corporate offices, data centres and a growing portfolio of cloud-based platforms and services. Existing backup and recovery technologies and approaches have evolved over time and are supported through a combination of on-premises, managed service, and cloud provider arrangements.

The department has established a project team to review current backup and recovery arrangements and systems in scope, engaged with key stakeholders and broader enterprise services, and developed an initial view of the challenges, desired outcomes and future direction for backup and recovery services. This work has informed the Problem Statement and supplier questions contained within this RFI.
