As Ross River is a dynamic environment the most current survey data sets will be provided to the winning tenderer at contract award. Please provide pricing on the volumes in the scope of works.

Thank you

Question:
1) The scope defines “A land-based placement methodology shall be proposed, with all placement activities restricted exclusively to the designated Marine Precinct Placement Area”. In review of Figure 3, there is a polygon marked ‘Marine Precinct’. Is this the only location where dredge material can be managed or placed?

In the case of hydraulic dredging by means of Cutter Suction Dredging, it would be necessary to utilise a dredge pond for sediment recovery and water quality management purposes. Are any of the other polygons marked in Figure 3 available for discharge management?

2) Is there a requirement for Water Quality Monitoring for the works?

Answered on 02/Dec/2025 06:30 AM:

1. The Marine Precinct is the only land-based facility where dredged material may be placed and treated. The alternative option is offshore placement at the Ports DMPA.

The Marine precinct lacks a dedicated dredge pond for receiving hydraulically dredged material onshore. There are no other areas available at this time for discharge management.

2. The Port has an extensive water quality monitoring programme and undertakes real-time water quality monitoring of turbidity in Cleveland Bay. If in review of the approvals, and/or the tenderer believes monitoring for the proposed dredging methodology is warranted then the tenderer should price additional monitoring as a provisional item.

Question:
The government wave buoy appears to located east of Cape Cleveland. Are you able to provide historical wave height data for inside Cleveland Bay?

Answered on 02/Dec/2025 06:29 AM:

Cleveland Bay monitoring data, along with links to additional historical government datasets, can be accessed on the Ports website under the Monitoring section for Cleveland Bay.

Question:
Can I get the buyer's contact details as I would like to have a quick telephone meeting if possible.

Answered on 02/Dec/2025 10:14 AM:

Question:
Contract Number: RFT00001

Description: 2025-2026 Ross River Maintenance Dredging

REF: Schedule 2 Scope of Work / Scope of Dredging / Pg 5 of 11

Dear Sir/Madam

Can you please confirm what dredging depth correlates to the scheduled volume provided in the documents provided by POTL.

For example - I assume if we dredge SP1 down to -2.5 the volume calculated is 23 750m3, meaning if we dredge down to the maximum of -2.7m the volume will be larger.

Thanks for clarification.

Answered on 17/Dec/2025 08:46 AM:

The scheduled volumes have been calculated in line with the definition outlined in the Technical Specification.

Scheduled Volume - The volume shown in the schedule of rates and is equivalent to 90% of material to be removed from each Dredge area between the pre-dredged surveyed surface and the maximum payable dredged depth.
